Haiti vs Peru
Match Report
Peru snatched a dramatic late comeback at Nu Stadium in Miami, overturning a one-goal deficit to beat Haiti 2-1 in a pre-World Cup friendly. The Blanquirroja looked well off the pace for much of the match before a frantic three-minute burst changed everything.
Wilson Isidor broke the deadlock in the 16th minute, capitalising on a defensive error to slot Haiti ahead with a neat finish. The lead held until deep in the second half, when Renzo Garcés levelled in the 81st minute after pouncing on a rebound off goalkeeper Johny Placide. Jairo Vélez completed the turnaround just three minutes later with a powerful strike inside the box. André Carrillo was cautioned in the 54th minute; no red cards were shown.
The win is a significant milestone for Peru — their first under new coach Mano Menezes, following a 2-0 loss to Senegal and a draw with Honduras. For Haiti, it is a hard-luck story; they led for the majority of the contest and will be left ruing a late collapse.
