Match Report

Independiente Medellín snatched a stunning 3-2 win at Cusco in Copa Libertadores Group A, scoring all three of their goals in a breathless final act to overturn a late deficit and leave the Peruvian side stunned. Francisco Fydriszewski broke the deadlock for Medellín in the 13th minute, but Gu-rum Choi leveled for the hosts at the 78th. Baldomero Perlaza restored the Colombian side's advantage in the 91st, only for Aldair Fuentes to nod home a Lucas Colitto cross and make it 2-2 in the 94th. Just when a share of the spoils looked certain, Alexis Serna latched onto a Perlaza cutback in the 97th to complete a remarkable comeback. No red cards or penalties marred the drama. Cusco remain anchored to the foot of Group A, their round-of-16 hopes virtually extinguished. Independiente Medellín, by contrast, now control their own destiny — a positive result in their final group match will be enough to reach the knockout stage.
