Match Report

Charlotte FC produced a ruthless display at Bank of America Stadium, hammering New York Red Bulls 6-1 in Saturday night's MLS clash. Archie Goodwin stole the show with a late brace, but this was a complete team performance from Dean Smith's side. Idan Toklomati opened the scoring on 14 minutes before Kerwin Vargas doubled the lead right after the break (46'). Gustav Berggren's red card on 52 minutes left the visitors down to ten and Charlotte pounced — Pep Biel (54') and Wilfried Zaha (68') made it four before Goodwin struck twice (77', 90'+3'). Julian Hall pulled one back for the Red Bulls on 81 minutes, but it was mere consolation. The result lifts Charlotte into the upper reaches of the Eastern Conference, while New York Red Bulls slip further after a third defeat in six games. Early days, but the Crown are making a serious statement at home.
