Match Report
Inter Miami were held to a 0-0 draw at Charlotte FC on Saturday night at Bank of America Stadium, with Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul left out of the squad entirely. Head coach Javier Mascherano opted to rest his Argentine stars ahead of a midweek Concacaf Champions Cup clash, handing Luis Suárez his first start of the 2026 season.
Despite controlling long stretches of possession, Miami struggled to find the breakthrough. Suárez, David Ruiz, and Germán Berterame all came close but couldn't beat Charlotte keeper Kristijan Kahlina, who was in inspired form. At the other end, Liel Abada and Wilfried Zaha threatened on the counter but found Ríos Novo equally up to the task.
The point leaves the defending MLS Cup champions on seven points from four games as they look to juggle domestic and continental commitments. For Charlotte, a clean sheet against last season's champions will feel like a job well done at home.
