Canada vs Peru

Canada made light work of Peru in this international friendly, cruising to a 2-0 win built almost entirely on one player's first-half heroics. The hosts controlled the tempo from the opening whistle and never looked back, finishing with a lopsided 17-4 shot advantage and 61% possession. The standout moment came courtesy of Jacob Shaffelburg, who struck twice inside the first 35 minutes. He opened the scoring in the 19th minute off a Daniel Jebbison assist, then doubled the lead in the 35th to put the result beyond doubt before halftime. Peru couldn't muster a single shot on target all match, and late yellow cards for Richie Laryea, Gianluca Lapadula, and Renzo Garces were the only other blemishes on an otherwise routine night. For Canada, it was a confident display from a squad built around their Copa America and World Cup qualifying core. For Peru, it extended a winless run on their North American tour after a loss to the US and a draw with Mexico, leaving manager Mano Menezes still searching for answers.
