Match Report

Brighton swept aside already-relegated Wolves with a devastating 3-0 win at the Amex, putting the game to bed before five minutes had even elapsed in one of the most explosive starts of the Premier League season. Jack Hinshelwood opened the scoring with a header inside the very first minute, then Lewis Dunk made it two with another powerful header from a corner just four minutes later. Wolves thought they'd pulled one back when a move involving Joao Gomes and Hugo Bueno ended in the net, only for the flag to go up for offside in the 25th minute. Kaoru Mitoma — booked earlier in the half — was substituted off injured after the hour, before Yankuba Minteh capped the evening with a clever turn and composed left-footed finish in the 86th minute. The win keeps Brighton very much in contention for European football, sitting eighth on 50 points with two games to play. For Wolves, winless since March and marooned on 18 points, it was another painful reminder that their Premier League story is already over.
