Platense vs Corinthians

Corinthians arrived at Vicente López and left with a commanding 2-0 victory, ruining Platense's historic Copa Libertadores debut with a disciplined, clinical second-half display. A tight first half gave the hosts hope, Gonzalo Lencina nearly headed Platense in front, only for goalkeeper Hugo Souza to palm the effort away. But Corinthians took control after the break: Kayke opened the scoring eight minutes into the second half, chipping coolly over the keeper after a perfectly threaded pass from Rodrigo Garro. Yuri Alberto made it 0-2 on 70 minutes, once again unlocked by Garro's vision. Any slim Platense comeback hopes died when defender Juan Saborido was red-carded, VAR upgraded his reckless challenge on Matheus Bidu from yellow to a straight red, leaving the hosts chasing shadows with ten men. For Platense, a harsh but instructive first taste of continental football. For Corinthians, three points and a confident statement to open Group E.
