The Nepal national football team, known as the Gorkhalis, is governed by the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), founded in 1951 and affiliated with FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation since 1970. Nepal competes in AFC Asian Cup qualifiers and FIFA World Cup qualifying rounds. While Nepal has not yet qualified for a major continental or global tournament, the team has shown improvement in SAFF Championship competitions, winning the South Asian Football Federation Championship in 2023, their first major regional title. Home matches are played at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, the country's largest football venue. Notable players include Bimal Magar and Anjan Bista. The sport continues to grow in Nepal, with increased investment in youth football, infrastructure, and the establishment of a more competitive domestic league.
