HNK Hajduk Split, founded in 1911 in Prague by Croatian students and subsequently established in Split, is one of the oldest and most beloved football clubs in the former Yugoslavia and the Balkans. The club plays home matches at the iconic Stadion Poljud, an architecturally celebrated 34,448-capacity venue overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Hajduk has won the Croatian Football League nine times and the Croatian Football Cup six times since independence, and holds a record 23 Yugoslav First League titles. The club's fervent supporter group, the Torcida, founded in 1950, is considered one of the oldest active ultras groups in Europe. Notable alumni include Slaven Bilić, Igor Tudor, and Marko Livaja. Hajduk remains a proud symbol of Dalmatian identity and regularly competes in European competition.
