Gibraltar
The Gibraltar national football team represents the British Overseas Territory in international football under the Gibraltar Football Association, which gained UEFA membership in 2013 and FIFA membership in 2016 — making Gibraltar one of the newest members of international football's governing bodies. Before official recognition, Gibraltar had a long unofficial football tradition dating back to the late 19th century. Since joining UEFA, the team competes in UEFA Nations League and World Cup/European Championship qualifiers. Operating in a small territory with a population of under 35,000, Gibraltar has faced heavy defeats but has continued to develop its domestic football scene and player pool. Lee Casciaro is the territory's all-time leading scorer and most iconic player. Hosting European sides at the Victoria Stadium has been a milestone achievement.
