The Bolivia national football team, known as La Verde, has competed in international football since 1926 under the Federación Boliviana de Fútbol. Playing home matches at the Estadio Hernando Siles in La Paz, situated at 3,637 metres above sea level, Bolivia's altitude has long been a significant home advantage. Their greatest achievement came in 1963 when they won the Copa América on home soil. Bolivia also qualified for the FIFA World Cup in 1930, 1950, and 1994, reaching the Round of 16 in 1994. Notable players include Marco Etcheverry, known as El Diablo, and Joaquín Botero. The team has struggled in recent CONMEBOL qualifying campaigns but continues to develop talent through its domestic Primera División.
