Athletico Paranaense
Club Athletico Paranaense was founded on 26 March 1924 in Curitiba, the capital of Paraná, Brazil, tracing its roots to clubs dating back to 1912. Competing in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and the Copa Sudamericana, they play their home matches at Arena da Baixada, the first stadium with a retractable roof in South America, with a capacity of 42,372 and a venue for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Wearing distinctive red and black, the club is nicknamed Furacão (Hurricane). Their major honours include the Série A title (2001), Copa Sudamericana (2018 and 2021), and Copa do Brasil (2019). They have reached the Copa Libertadores final twice (2005 and 2022), and their fierce local rivalry with Coritiba — the Atletiba derby — is one of Brazil's most celebrated regional contests.
