Anderlecht
Royale Sporting Club Anderlecht, founded on May 27, 1908, in the municipality of Anderlecht just outside Brussels and playing at Lotto Park (21,500 capacity) since 1983, is Belgium's most successful club with 34 Belgian First Division titles and Belgium's greatest-ever European record. The club won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in consecutive editions in 1976 and 1978, and added the UEFA Cup in 1983, achievements that placed them among Europe's elite clubs of the era. Paul Van Himst, widely considered Belgium's greatest 20th-century footballer, spent his entire career at the club winning eight league titles. Vincent Kompany, the commanding defender who later captained Manchester City to four Premier League titles, returned as player-manager in 2020 and helped elevate the club's profile before departing for Burnley and then Bayern Munich.
