West Ham United

West Ham United Football Club, founded in 1895 as Thames Ironworks FC by workers at a Docklands shipyard and playing at the 62,500-capacity London Stadium since 2016, have a history disproportionately significant to their modest trophy count. The club won the FA Cup three times (1964, 1975, 1980) and the 1965 European Cup Winners' Cup, but their most profound contribution to football came at the 1966 World Cup, where three West Ham men — captain Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst (the only man to score a World Cup final hat-trick), and Martin Peters — were central to England's 4-2 victory over West Germany. Known as the 'Academy of Football,' West Ham produced Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, and Declan Rice from their youth system. Under David Moyes, the club won the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League — ending a 43-year wait for a European trophy — before Moyes departed after the 2023-24 season.
