Newcastle United

Newcastle United Football Club, founded in 1892 through the merger of two local clubs and playing at St James' Park — a 52,305-capacity stadium dominating the city centre skyline and generating one of English football's most ferocious atmospheres — had their greatest era in the first half of the 20th century, winning four league titles and six FA Cups. Kevin Keegan's 'Entertainers' side of the 1990s, built around all-time record scorer Alan Shearer, captivated England before narrowly missing the Premier League title in 1995-96. Following the October 2021 Saudi-backed consortium takeover, the club invested heavily to close a 70-year trophy drought: in 2025, Newcastle won the Carabao Cup under Eddie Howe — their first major honour since 1969 — with the exciting partnership of Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimarães, and Anthony Gordon at the core of a genuinely ambitious project.
