Birmingham City
Birmingham City FC, founded in 1875, is one of England's oldest clubs, based in Birmingham, the country's second-largest city in the West Midlands. Competing in the Championship, the club plays at St. Andrew's Trillion Trophy Stadium. Known as the Blues, Birmingham have won the League Cup twice, in 1963 and 2011, and have a long history competing between the top two divisions. The club has a fierce local rivalry with Aston Villa in the Second City Derby. After financial turbulence and ownership instability, Tom Wagner's Knighthead Capital Management consortium took over in 2023, bringing fresh American investment and ambition. Birmingham are rebuilding with a younger squad and clear promotion ambitions, aiming to restore the Blues to the Premier League after a lengthy absence.
