Ghazl El Mehalla

Ghazl El Mehalla SC, founded in 1927, is a football club based in El-Mahalla El-Kubra, a major industrial city in the Nile Delta region of Egypt. The club was originally established by workers of the Egyptian Company for Spinning and Weaving, giving it deep roots in the local working-class community. Ghazl El Mehalla competes in the Egyptian Premier League and plays its home fixtures at El Mahalla Stadium, which holds 29,000 spectators. The club has experienced periods of top-flight competition and has occasionally challenged for domestic honours. Known as El Ghazl, the team has historically served as a source of Egyptian footballing talent for larger Cairo-based clubs. Their distinctive blue-and-white colours are a source of pride for the people of El-Mahalla El-Kubra.
