Baník Ostrava
FC Baník Ostrava is a historic Czech football club founded in 1922 in Ostrava, the industrial heartland of Moravia. The club plays home matches at the Městský stadion - Vítkovice Aréna, a 15,275-capacity ground in Ostrava. Baník is one of the most decorated clubs in Czech and Czechoslovak football, having won the Czechoslovak First League three times and the Czech First League twice, as well as multiple domestic cup titles. The club reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals in 1978 and has participated regularly in European competition. Notable alumni include Zdeněk Nehoda and Radoslav Látal. After a difficult period in lower divisions in the 2000s and 2010s, Baník Ostrava won promotion back to the top flight and has since re-established itself as a top-tier club and UEFA Europa Conference League participant.
