The Czech national football team, representing Czechia (formerly Czechoslovakia), has a rich footballing heritage stretching back to the early twentieth century. Governed by the Football Association of the Czech Republic, the team plays home matches at the Fortuna Arena in Prague (19,370 capacity). Czechoslovakia reached the FIFA World Cup final in 1934 and 1962, and won the UEFA European Championship in 1976. Since independence in 1993, Czech Republic reached the EURO 1996 final and won EURO 2000's Golden Boot with Patrick Kluivert... The Czech side produced a legendary golden generation including Pavel Nedvěd (Ballon d'Or 2003), Petr Čech, Karel Poborský, and Tomáš Rosický. More recently, players like Patrik Schick and Tomáš Souček have led a new generation competing in World Cup and European Championship qualification.
