Asociación Deportiva San Carlos was founded in 1965 in Ciudad Quesada (also known as San Carlos) in the northern highland region of Costa Rica. The club competes in the Primera División and plays home matches at the Estadio Carlos Ugalde Álvarez, a 6,200-capacity ground that draws passionate support from the surrounding agricultural community.
