Universidad de Chile, commonly known as La U or Los Azules, is one of Chile's largest and most decorated football clubs, founded in 1927 in Santiago. The club plays at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos, which holds 48,665 spectators, one of South America's iconic footballing venues. Universidad de Chile has won the Chilean Primera División numerous times and claimed the Copa Sudamericana in 2011, their most prestigious international honour. The club produced legendary players such as Leonel Sánchez and has developed modern stars including Charles Aránguiz. La U enjoys one of the largest and most passionate fanbases in Chile. The club competes regularly in the Copa Libertadores and continues to be a central force in Chilean and South American football with a strong institutional structure.
