Central African Republic
The Central African Republic national football team, the Wild Beasts, is governed by the Fédération Centrafricaine de Football and affiliated with FIFA and CAF. Founded in 1961, the team competes in FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations qualification rounds. Though yet to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations finals, the Central African Republic has shown improvement in recent cycles. The squad consists of a mix of locally-based players and diaspora players competing in European leagues, particularly in France. Home matches are played at the Barthélemy Boganda Stadium in Bangui, the national capital. The federation continues to work on developing football infrastructure and producing the next generation of players who can push the team to its first major continental finals appearance.
