Vitória
Esporte Clube Vitória was founded on 13 May 1899 in Salvador, Bahia, making it one of the oldest clubs in Brazil. The club initially competed in cricket before embracing football, playing its first football match in 1901. Known as Leão da Barra (Lion of the Bar) or Rubro-Negro Baiano, they wear distinctive red and black horizontal stripes and play at the Manoel Barradas stadium, with a capacity of 35,632. Vitória is the most successful team in the history of the Copa do Nordeste, with five titles, and was Brasileirão runner-up in 1993. Their youth academy has produced international stars including David Luiz, Hulk, Bebeto, and Dida. In 2023, Vitória won the Série B championship, earning promotion to the top flight and continuing a storied legacy in north-eastern Brazilian football.
