Palmeiras
Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, founded on August 26, 1914, in São Paulo by Italian immigrants as Palestra Itália before adopting its current name in 1942, plays at the modern 43,713-capacity Allianz Parque stadium opened in 2014. The club has won a record 12 Campeonato Brasileiro titles — the most in Brazil's top-flight history — and three Copa Libertadores crowns (1999, 2020, 2021), with back-to-back titles under Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira establishing them as the dominant South American club force of the early 2020s. Ferreira, who joined in October 2020, guided Palmeiras to eight major titles in five years — the most successful managerial tenure in the club's history. Legendary players include goalkeeper Marcos, World Cup winners Rivaldo, Cafu, and Roberto Carlos, and teenage prodigy Endrick, who joined Real Madrid in 2024.
