Internacional
Sport Club Internacional, founded on April 4, 1909, in Porto Alegre with an explicitly inclusive founding mission open to all nationalities and backgrounds, plays at the iconic Estádio Beira-Rio (50,128 capacity) on the shores of the Guaíba river — a 2014 FIFA World Cup venue. The club won the Campeonato Brasileiro three times (1975, 1976, 1979) and achieved their greatest moments in 2006 and 2010, winning the Copa Libertadores both times, with their 2006 FIFA Club World Cup title — defeating Cristiano Ronaldo's Barcelona 1-0 — one of Brazilian football's most celebrated achievements. Club legends include the elegant midfielder Paulo Roberto Falcão, Chilean defensive great Elias Figueroa, and World Cup-winning goalkeeper Taffarel. The Grenal derby against Grêmio remains one of the fiercest local rivalries in world football.
