Club Atletico San Lorenzo de Almagro was founded on 1 April 1908 in the Almagro neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. One of the five most popular football clubs in the country and a member of the prestigious 'Big Five', San Lorenzo is nicknamed 'El Ciclon' (The Cyclone) and 'El Cuervo'. The club plays at the Estadio Pedro Bidegain, known as El Nuevo Gasometro, located in Boedo. San Lorenzo has won 17 Primera Division titles and captured the Copa Libertadores in 2014. The club also boasts a notable global distinction as the favourite football team of Pope Francis, himself a native of Buenos Aires.
