Uzbekistan
The Uzbekistan national football team, known as the White Wolves, is governed by the Uzbekistan Football Federation and competes in AFC Asian Cup qualifying and FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers. Since independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Uzbekistan has grown steadily in Asian football, qualifying for multiple AFC Asian Cup tournaments. They reached the AFC Asian Cup quarter-finals in 2011 and 2023, the latter signalling a new generation of talent. Notable players include Odil Ahmedov, Server Djeparov, and rising stars like Eldor Shomurodov who have played in top European leagues. Uzbekistan typically plays home matches at the Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent, a 34,000-capacity venue, and are considered an emerging force in Asian football.
