Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor, founded in 1967 through the merger of local clubs in the Black Sea port city of Trabzon and playing at the 40,980-capacity Papara Park stadium, became the first provincial club to break the stranglehold of Istanbul's Big Three on Turkish football, winning six consecutive Süper Lig titles from 1975-76 to 1983-84 and earning the nickname Karadeniz Fırtınası (The Black Sea Storm). Their most recent championship arrived in 2021-22, ending a 38-year drought and prompting celebrations across the region. The club has won seven Süper Lig titles and nine Turkish Cups in total, with legendary striker Hami Mandıralı holding the all-time scoring record with 218 goals. In 2024-25, Trabzonspor's Under-19 side became the first Turkish club ever to reach the UEFA Youth League final, reflecting the enduring vitality of this proud Black Sea institution.
