Tunisia
The Tunisia national football team, known as the Eagles of Carthage, is governed by the Fédération Tunisienne de Football, founded in 1956. Tunisia became the first African nation to win a World Cup match when they defeated Mexico in 1978. They have since qualified for six FIFA World Cups, most recently in 2022, where they narrowly missed the round of sixteen. Tunisia has also won the Africa Cup of Nations once, in 2004, and has been a consistent semi-final contender. The team plays home matches at the Stade Olympique de Rades in Tunis. Key players throughout history include Hassen, Zitouni, and more recently Wahbi Khazri, Youssef Msakni, and Hannibal Mejbri, who represents the next generation of Tunisian talent.
