The Thailand national football team, known as the War Elephants, is governed by the Football Association of Thailand, established in 1916. Thailand is one of Southeast Asia's leading football nations and has won the AFF Championship (ASEAN Football Federation) a record multiple times, most recently in 2021. The team competes in FIFA World Cup qualifiers within the AFC and has progressed to the final stages of Asian qualification on several occasions. Thailand has benefited from significant investment in football development and has produced standout players such as Chanathip Songkrasin, nicknamed the Messi of Asia, who has played in Japan's J-League. The national stadium is the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, with a capacity exceeding 49,000.
