The Slovenia national football team, governed by the Football Association of Slovenia (NZS) and founded upon independence in 1991, has established itself as a competitive European side. The team plays home matches at Stadion Stozice in Ljubljana, which holds 16,000 spectators. Slovenia qualified for the FIFA World Cup in 2002 and 2010, reaching the round of sixteen in South Africa.
