Spartak Trnava
FC Spartak Trnava is one of Slovakia's most historic and celebrated football clubs, founded in 1923 in the western Slovak city of Trnava. Known as Spartak, the club enjoyed their greatest era in the late 1960s and early 1970s as part of Czechoslovakia, winning multiple league titles and competing in European competitions. The club won the Czechoslovak First League in 1968 and 1969 and were respected participants in the European Cup. Spartak plays home matches at CITY ARENA – Štadión Antona Malatinského, which has a capacity of 19,200, one of the best club stadiums in Slovakia. After years of financial difficulties following Czechoslovakia's dissolution, Spartak has gradually rebuilt, returning to challenging for the Slovak Super Liga title and qualifying for European football in recent seasons.
