Crvena Zvezda
Red Star Belgrade, officially constituted on March 4, 1945, in Belgrade and playing at the 51,755-capacity Rajko Mitić Stadium — nicknamed the 'Marakana' by fans — is the most successful club in Serbian history with 37 national league titles and the defining moment in Eastern European football: winning both the 1991 European Cup and the 1991 Intercontinental Cup, defeating Olympique de Marseille and Colo-Colo respectively. That squad featured the brilliant Robert Prosinečki, Golden Boot winner Darko Pančev, and the explosive Dejan Savićević. The club has produced Dragan Džajić, regarded as the greatest Serbian player ever, and Nemanja Vidić, later a cornerstone of Manchester United's defence. Red Star remain the dominant force in Serbian domestic football and are regular participants in the Champions League group stage.
