Romanya

Romania's national football team, governed by the Federația Română de Fotbal and founded in 1909, is one of Eastern Europe's most historic sides. Their greatest era was the 1990s, reaching the quarter-finals of the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States, where they defeated Argentina in the round of 16. That squad featured Gheorghe Hagi — the 'Maradona of the Carpathians' — alongside Ilie Dumitrescu and Florin Răducioiu. Romania qualified for five consecutive World Cups from 1990 to 2006. They reached Euro 2000 and Euro 2024, winning their group at Euro 2024. Romania's football tradition is rich, with Steaua București becoming the first Eastern European club to win the European Cup in 1986.
