The Nigeria national football team, popularly known as the Super Eagles, is one of Africa's most successful and celebrated sides. Founded in 1945, Nigeria has won the Africa Cup of Nations three times (1980, 1994, 2013) and reached the FIFA World Cup six times, their best result being the round of sixteen. The 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta saw the Eagles claim gold in stunning fashion. Legendary players include Jay-Jay Okocha, Rashidi Yekini, Nwankwo Kanu, and more recently Victor Osimhen, who became one of Europe's most prolific strikers. Governed by the Nigeria Football Federation, the Super Eagles play home matches at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja and remain a dominant force in African football.
