Malaysia
The Malaysia national football team, governed by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), has competed under FIFA since 1954. Malaysia won the AFC Asian Cup in 1976 and was a dominant force in Southeast Asian football during the 1970s and 1980s. The team has won the ASEAN Football Federation Championship (AFF Suzuki Cup) once and has frequently competed in the AFF Cup finals. Malaysia plays home matches at Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur, one of Asia's largest stadiums. The national team has produced notable players including Mokhtar Dahari, the country's all-time top scorer, and more recently Safawi Rasid, who plays in Japan's league. Malaysia continues to develop its Super League and invest in youth academies, aiming to restore its status as a Southeast Asian football powerhouse after a period of relative decline.
