The Jamaica national football team, nicknamed the Reggae Boyz, is governed by the Jamaica Football Federation and competes in CONCACAF. Their greatest achievement came in 1998, when they became the first Caribbean nation to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, reaching the finals in France. In their debut tournament, they notably defeated Japan 2-1. Jamaica has also been a competitive force in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, finishing as runners-up in 2015 and reaching the final again in 2017. The squad has benefited from players of Jamaican descent competing in English football, including Ricardo Fuller, Deon Burton, and Theodore Whitmore, who later managed the national team. They continue to be one of CONCACAF's more competitive teams, aiming for further World Cup qualification.
