UC Sampdoria

Unione Calcio Sampdoria, founded on August 12, 1946, through the merger of two Genoese clubs and playing at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris (Marassi) in Genoa alongside rivals Genoa CFC, are recognisable for their distinctive blue shirts with a horizontal band of black, white, and red. The club's golden era came in the late 1980s and early 1990s under Yugoslav coach Vujadin Boškov: they won the Coppa Italia three times, the 1990 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, their sole Serie A Scudetto in 1990-91, and reached the 1992 European Cup final, losing 1-0 to Barcelona at Wembley. The partnership of strikers Gianluca Vialli and Roberto Mancini was one of the most celebrated in Italian football. After the glories of that era, Sampdoria have struggled, most recently facing Serie C for the first time in their history after relegation in 2024-25.
