The Republic of Ireland national football team, known as the Boys in Green, has produced some of football's most memorable international moments. Ireland qualified for the 1990 FIFA World Cup under Jack Charlton, reaching the quarter-finals — a tournament that transformed football culture in Ireland. They also appeared at the 1994 and 2002 World Cups. Roy Keane, Robbie Keane, Shay Given, and Damien Duff are among the country's most celebrated players. Liam Brady and Johnny Giles defined earlier eras. The FAI has faced governance challenges in recent years, but under manager Stephen Kenny and now Heimir Hallgrímsson, a new generation including Evan Ferguson and Mikey Johnston continues to develop. The team plays its home matches at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
