Hamburger SV, founded in 1887 as SC Germania and formally constituted under its current name in 1919, is one of Germany's oldest and most storied clubs, playing at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. The club won six German championships and the 1983 European Cup by defeating Juventus, and legendary forward Uwe Seeler symbolised the club's working-class pride across two decades.
