1. FSV Mainz 05 was founded in 1905 in Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, and competes in the Bundesliga. The club plays its home matches at the MEWA Arena, a modern stadium with a capacity of around 33,305 spectators. Nicknamed die Nullfünfer, Mainz is celebrated as one of Bundesliga's most progressive clubs, having helped launch the careers of legendary managers Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel. The club earned promotion to the Bundesliga in 2004 under Klopp's stewardship and has remained a consistent top-flight presence since, qualifying for European competition on several occasions. Known for their pressing, high-energy style of play, Mainz punches well above its weight. Their red-and-white colors are worn by a proud fanbase from one of Germany's most historically and culturally significant cities on the Rhine.
