SV Darmstadt 98
SV Darmstadt 98 is a German professional football club founded in 1898 and based in Darmstadt, a city in the southern part of Hesse, Germany. The club plays its home matches at the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor, affectionately known as the Bölle. Darmstadt famously surprised German football by rising from the lower divisions to the Bundesliga, competing in the top flight during the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons. After years in the 2. Bundesliga and 3. Liga, they earned another remarkable promotion to the Bundesliga for the 2023–24 season. Known as the Lilien (Lilies), Darmstadt is celebrated for their fighting underdog mentality, strong community identity, and their passionate supporters who back them relentlessly. The club exemplifies the beauty of football's ability to elevate smaller clubs to the top stage.
