Nantes
FC Nantes was founded in 1943 and is based in Nantes, the capital of the Loire-Atlantique department in western France. Competing in Ligue 1, the club plays at the Stade de la Beaujoire, a modern arena with a capacity of around 37,000 spectators. Known as les Canaris for their iconic yellow-and-green colors, Nantes is one of the most successful clubs in French football history, having won eight Ligue 1 titles, most recently in 2001. The club is legendary for the Jeu à la Nantaise, a distinctive, fluid passing style developed in the 1970s that influenced generations of French football. Nantes also won the Coupe de France in 1979 and 2022. The club has produced numerous French internationals and remains a cornerstone of French footballing identity, beloved by a devoted and passionate fanbase.
