Junior protiv Sporting Cristal

Junior edged Sporting Cristal 3-2 in a gripping Copa Libertadores Group F clash at the Estadio Jaime Morón in Cartagena, dominating the first half before surviving a spirited Peruvian comeback. Luis Muriel was the night's standout, opening the scoring in the 9th minute, his goal initially flagged offside before VAR overturned the call, then doubling up in the 38th. Kevin Pérez added a third in the 28th to make it 3-0. Sporting Cristal hit back through Yoshimar Yotún's stoppage-time strike just before the break and Gustavo Cazonatti's finish in the 55th, but the hosts held firm despite intense pressure in the closing stages. The win is Junior's first of the group stage and keeps their Copa Sudamericana hopes alive. For Sporting Cristal, it's a serious blow, they must beat Cerro Porteño on the final matchday to have any realistic chance of advancing.
