FC Cincinnati vs Toronto FC

Toronto FC stunned FC Cincinnati with a smash-and-grab 1-0 victory at TQL Stadium on Saturday night, courtesy of a late strike from Dániel Sallói. The Hungarian winger, a February arrival from Sporting Kansas City, picked the perfect moment to open his Toronto account. The decisive moment came in the 86th minute when Cincinnati goalkeeper Roman Celentano, otherwise impressive on the night, gifted possession with an errant throw straight to Richie Laryea. The Toronto fullback drove forward and slipped in Sallói, who drilled a low right-footed finish past the stranded Celentano. The stats told a frustrating story for the hosts. FC Cincinnati dominated possession and outshot Toronto 15-10, yet managed just two efforts on target compared to seven for the visitors. It was a clinical away display. The result is historic for Toronto FC, their first-ever goal and win at TQL Stadium, ending a run of five visits without scoring. For FC Cincinnati, it is back-to-back home defeats to open the season and early cause for concern.
