Уругвај против Шпанија

A goalkeeper error proved the difference as Spain edged Uruguay 1-0 in Guadalajara, securing top spot in Group H and sending La Celeste home at the first hurdle. Álex Baena pounced in the 42nd minute after a Marcos Llorente delivery caught Fernando Muslera flat-footed, the ball squirming through the keeper's grasp. Muslera was replaced at half-time, Uruguay's first goalkeeper substitution in a World Cup since 1970. Maximiliano Araújo went one-on-one in the 62nd minute but Unai Simón saved brilliantly, and Ferran Torres rattled the crossbar in the 86th. Agustín Canobbio capped a miserable evening with a straight red for a reckless challenge on Pau Cubarsi deep in stoppage time. Spain advance as Group H winners, completing the group stage without conceding, a first in their World Cup history. Uruguay and coach Marcelo Bielsa suffer a second straight group exit, compounding growing questions about La Celeste's direction.
