Match Report
Bremen beat Hoffenheim for the first time since 2014
Werder Bremen ended a long wait against Hoffenheim on Saturday, winning 2-0 at the Weserstadion. It was their first victory over the visitors since 2014, and both goals came after the break.
Niclas Füllkrug broke the deadlock in the 57th minute, finishing under the bar after a long ball forward. Eren Dinkçi made it safe in the 82nd, curling into the far corner from a Marco Grüll pass. Dinkçi was only on the pitch because Mitchell Weiser went off injured in the first half. Before the interval Amos Pieper had hooked a header off the line to keep the game level.
Bremen are now unbeaten in seven league games and have 15 points from eight matches. Füllkrug has scored in seven Bundesliga games in a row, which only Rudi Völler had done for the club, in 1982/83. Hoffenheim stay on nine points in 11th place, a week after going out of the cup on penalties at Holstein Kiel.
