Match Report

Hungary and Greece played out a goalless draw at a packed Puskás Aréna in Budapest on Tuesday, with neither side able to find the breakthrough in an intense but ultimately frustrating international friendly. The first half saw half-chances at both ends, with Damir Redzic firing a blocked effort from a Milos Kerkez cross on 16 minutes before Greece forward Vangelis Pavlidis was denied by the Hungarian defence shortly after the half-hour mark. Konstantinos Koulierakis picked up a yellow card early in the second half as tempers briefly flared. Hungary captain Dominik Szoboszlai came closest to breaking the deadlock on 52 minutes, dancing past defenders before seeing his left-footed strike saved. Greece then rattled the post from a set-piece after Attila Osváth was booked on 63 minutes, but the net refused to ripple. With both sides now looking ahead to World Cup qualifying, the draw offers little to celebrate but underlines the defensive resilience each camp can call upon when it matters most.
