Sri Lanka claimed a comfortable 4-1 victory over Bhutan in Colombo on June 8, with Wade Dekker's early strike setting the tone for a thoroughly dominant home performance.
Dekker broke the deadlock in the 16th minute, and Sri Lanka carried that slim lead into the break. Barath Suresh doubled the advantage in the 64th minute before Ahmed Wassem Razeek made it three on 78. Bhutan hit back almost immediately through Rinzin Dorji (80'), briefly raising hopes of a comeback, but Rahul Suresh ended any doubt with a stoppage-time finish. Five yellow cards were distributed across both sides, adding some bite to what was an ultimately one-sided contest.
The convincing win gives Sri Lanka a real confidence boost and showcases genuine attacking depth. For Bhutan, Dorji's late goal offers a small positive to build on as they work to close the gap on their regional rivals.
