Zwolle vs Excelsior

A dramatic 2-2 draw at MAC³PARK summed up the relegation anxiety gripping both sides, with Excelsior showing real resilience by clawing back twice to deny PEC Zwolle all three points. Oosting gave the home side a lightning start in the 3rd minute, but Excelsior levelled swiftly through Sanches Fernandes (16'). PEC Zwolle looked to have done enough when Velanas headed home to restore the lead in the 60th minute, exploiting a defensive lapse. The visitors had the last word, though — Wlodarczyk met a perfectly weighted cross from De Regt to head in the equaliser with ten minutes to go (80'). A point apiece does little for either side's nerves. PEC Zwolle remain stuck just above the danger zone, while Excelsior are still without a win after a long barren run — the relegation fight continues for both.
